The Japanese word Kamikaze is usually translated as "divine wind" (kami is the word for "god", "spirit", or "divinity", and kaze for "wind"). The formal term used for units carrying out suicide attacks during 1944-45 is tokubetsu kÅgeki tai, which literally means "special attack unit". (Wikipedia)
As Christians we sometimes lose sight of the fact that our faith is centered around a battle of good versus evil. God versus the devil. A spiritual war that Billy Graham said would make the worst war in the history of man look like a mere pop gun affair.
The church is Christ's army. Is Christ's church battle tested and battle ready?
Are we willing to lay down our life in this fight? Our Savior brutally gave his life so we could join his army. Many of us have enlisted in this army with out really understanding what we were signing up for or what our commander expects of us.
He commanded us that if we are to follow him we must deny ourself and take up our cross daily. And that to save our life we must be willing lose it, for whoever loses his life will save it.
Japanese pilots were willing to lose their life for the emperor in WWII. How many Christians are willing to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and lose our life for Christ (our commander and savior) and the battle he is fighting?
Our army needs to feel Christ's divine wind and a recruit for a special attack unit.
